Year 6 blog:
This half term, Year 6 have been developing their artistic skills through our World War II learning, creating detailed sketches that demonstrate perspective, accurate form and effective shading.
As part of their learning journey, the children have explored how artists create a sense of depth and distance within a two-dimensional image. Using a pre-existing image as inspiration, they carefully established a vanishing point before adding guidelines and parallel lines to help position and scale objects accurately. This allowed them to create the illusion of objects becoming smaller as they recede into the distance.
The children have shown fantastic concentration and perseverance as they have experimented with these new techniques. These are only our first drafts, but we are already incredibly proud of the developing artists in Year 6. We hope you enjoy seeing their wonderful work!
