Playtime in the Sunshine on our KS1 Playground!

We have been making the most of the sunshine on our KS1 playground, and it has been wonderful to see our children enjoying so many different ways to play, explore, create and spend time together.

One of the highlights has been having our fantastic KS2 Play Leaders out with us in their high-vis jackets. They have been teaching us new playground games, helping us learn the rules and, most importantly, making sure everyone is included and feels like they belong. We have loved seeing our older children encouraging our younger pupils, inviting others to join in and showing them what great teamwork looks like.

A space to be calm and creative

Not everyone wants to run around at playtime, so our Calm Zone gives children a quieter place to choose how they would like to spend their break. There has been chalking, art activities, construction and plenty of books to enjoy.

It has been lovely to see children sitting together, sharing ideas, building, drawing and reading. Playtime really can look different for everyone!

Squeals of excitement in the Sports Zone!

Our Sports Zone has been particularly exciting this week! The parachute has been out with our Superstar Sports coaches, and the playground has been filled with squeals of excitement as children have worked together to lift, lower, shake and move it.

Miss Bourne has also been busy teaching us some really important movement skills. We have been practising how to jump, hop, skip and land safely on one foot and two feet. There has been lots of perseverance as we practise, wobble, try again and celebrate when we master something new.

Creating with nature

Along the edge of our tree area, children have been using natural materials to develop their own ideas for play.

Sticks, leaves, stones and other natural treasures have become fantastic creations. Take a look at our beautiful nature pictures and the brilliant ‘bug hotels’ that the children designed and built themselves. We love seeing where their imaginations take them when we give them the freedom to create.

We want every child to know that their voice matters. Learning to communicate our boundaries confidently and respectfully is an important part of learning how to play together.

We have seen kindness, creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, imagination and lots of children making sure that others have someone to play with.
