Year 2 Step Back in Time at SeaCity Museum:

Our Year 2 children enjoyed an unforgettable trip to SeaCity Museum, where history was brought vividly to life through an exciting day of exploration, learning, and role play.

As part of our learning about the Titanic, the children had the opportunity to dress as passengers from the different travel classes aboard the famous ship. From elegant first-class travellers to hardworking third-class passengers, the costumes helped the children immerse themselves in the experiences of those who sailed on the Titanic over a century ago. Seeing the children embrace their roles with such enthusiasm truly brought history to life and sparked many thoughtful discussions throughout the day.

During the visit, the children discovered fascinating facts about the Titanic, learning about its construction, voyage, and the events that led to its tragic sinking in 1912. Through interactive exhibits and engaging activities, they explored what life was like on board for passengers from different social backgrounds and gained an understanding of how class affected people's experiences during the journey.

The museum also helped the children understand the Titanic's historical significance, particularly its connection to Southampton, where many crew members lived and worked. They learned how the disaster impacted local families and communities and how the event continues to influence maritime safety around the world today.

The children represented the school beautifully, demonstrating curiosity, respect, and excellent listening skills throughout the visit. They asked thoughtful questions, engaged enthusiastically with the exhibits, and showed a genuine interest in learning about this important historical event.

It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning that enriched our classroom studies and helped deepen the children's understanding of history in a meaningful and memorable way. We are incredibly proud of Year 2 and look forward to building on their learning back in the classroom.
