Year 5 blog:
Year 5 have had a busy and exciting time in their learning recently, exploring a wonderful mix of Art, Writing and History.
In Art, the children have been inspired by Pablo Picasso, focusing on his abstract-style portraits. They have experimented with bold shapes, unusual perspectives and expressive colours, developing their confidence to take creative risks when creating pieces of art.
In English, the children have been writing setting descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness. They have been working hard to use rich vocabulary and figurative language to bring icy landscapes, vast forests and extreme weather to life. The results have shown great imagination and careful attention to atmosphere.
In History, Year 5 have been learning about the Industrial Revolution and the significant changes Britain went through during this period. They have explored how new inventions, factories and transport transformed everyday life, as well as the impact these changes had on towns, cities and living conditions.
