4 Square Quick Play – Our New Playground Favourite!

What an exciting week on our KS2 playground! We were all incredible curious about the chalk square forming on the playground by our school grown ups. Our curiosity got the better of us and we were desperate to understand and try out a new game. We have absolutely loved trying out our brand-new playground game, 4 Square Quick Play, and it has already proved to be a big hit!

The game is simple, fast-paced and full of fun! Four players each take a square and work together to keep the ball moving, bouncing it into another player's square without breaking the rules. If you're out, the next player waiting in that corner's queue jumps in, meaning everyone gets a chance to play!

We were particularly impressed with how quickly everyone learnt the rules. Our pupils were super speedy at spotting when someone was out and were very keen to make sure there was no cheating! There was plenty of excitement, laughter and some brilliant demonstrations of honesty, fairness and good sportsmanship.

But 4 Square isn't just about having fun! It's also a fantastic way to develop our physical skills, including:

  • Movement and fitness – keeping active and burning off energy.

  • Balance and agility – moving quickly and changing direction.

  • Speed – racing to reach the ball in time.

  • Reaction times – thinking fast and responding to where the ball bounces.

  • Coordination – controlling our movements and striking the ball accurately.

We have also been developing our teamwork, communication and ability to follow rules, all while enjoying some healthy competition!

It has been wonderful to see so many children getting involved, encouraging one another and enjoying being active together.

Ready, Respectful, Safe – and ready to play!

We can't wait to see even more fantastic 4 Square action on our KS2 playground next week!
