Eco blog:

What an exciting week it’s been! Every time something new begins to grow, it feels like Christmas morning all over again. This week, we spotted the very first of our pumpkins and our cucumbers are actually growing bigger every day! Flowers have appeared on our beans and tomatoes too! We cannot wait to taste these!

On the field, Years 1 to 4 explored making a shelter for the first time. With each group, we had thoughtful discussions about why shelter is important, what it provides and reflected on those around the world who are not as fortunate, people living in camps, temporary shelters or shanty towns. The children shared some incredibly empathetic responses and it was wonderful to see them working together as teams to build their own shelters.

We have begun sowing our winter vegetables and, more excitingly, we have tasted our fresh peas and carrots and our lettuce even made a proud appearance on the school dinner menu this week! They were grown from seeds, carefully handled by the children, then the seedlings were repotted to now be a tasty supplement in our dinners.....we are very proud at what they have achieved!
