Cross Country blog:

Rain, Hail… and Brilliant Running!

Our Year 5 and 6 cross country team recently took part in a Southampton Schools competition and what an event it turned out to be!

Just before the race began, the weather decided to add a little extra challenge… with hail and rain making a very dramatic appearance. Safe to say it quickly became a very wet (and very muddy!) course. However, if the weather thought it might stop our runners, it clearly didn’t know our team very well.

Despite the slippery grass, muddy trainers and slightly cold fingers, every single runner showed fantastic resilience and determination. They tackled the course with brilliant effort and refused to let the conditions slow them down.

Even more impressively, we had lots of fantastic finishes in the top 10, which is an incredible achievement against such strong competition from other schools across Southampton.

By the end of the races, there were muddy legs, wet hair and probably a few pairs of trainers that will never quite look the same again… but through it all, the team’s passion for running and determination to do their best really shone through.

The effort, positivity and resilience shown by every runner was fantastic to see and they represented our school brilliantly.
