Year 6 Residential – Homeward bound!
What an incredible week it has been for our Year 6 children in Devon!
Over the past few days, the children have challenged themselves, tried new experiences, made lasting friendships and created memories that will stay with them for years to come. From climbing and abseiling to surfing, kayaking, high ropes, archery, assault courses and coastal explorations, every child has embraced the adventure with enthusiasm, resilience and a smile.
We are immensely proud of how the children have represented Bitterne Park Primary and Nursery School throughout the week. Their exemplary behaviour, positive attitudes and willingness to support one another have been commented on by the instructors time and time again. They have shown courage when facing new challenges, encouraged their friends every step of the way and demonstrated the teamwork and kindness that make our school so special.
This morning, the children rounded off a fantastic residential with some fun beach games, making the most of their final few hours together before beginning the journey home.
They are now on their way back to school, tired but incredibly happy, with suitcases full of worn clothes and hearts full of unforgettable memories. We have no doubt they will have plenty of exciting stories and adventures to share with their families this evening!
A huge thank you to the staff who have given up their time to make this residential such a memorable experience and, of course, well done to our amazing Year 6 children for making us all so proud. Safe travels and welcome home!

Reaching new heights and making waves!
Our Year 6 children have enjoyed another fantastic day of adventure at Devon, with today’s activities taking them both high into the air and out onto the water!
Some of the children challenged themselves on the high ropes, showing incredible courage and determination as they climbed high above the ground. It was wonderful to see them encouraging one another, celebrating each other’s achievements and finding the confidence to push themselves beyond their comfort zones.
Others headed to the water for surfing and kayaking, where they embraced the waves, developed new skills and had plenty of fun along the way! Whether balancing on a surfboard or paddling across the water, the children threw themselves into every experience with enthusiasm and big smiles.
Throughout the day, the children have continued to demonstrate exemplary behaviour. They have listened carefully to their instructors, supported their friends and represented our school brilliantly. We are incredibly proud of their positive attitudes, resilience and willingness to give everything a go.
As our residential adventure continues, the children are making wonderful memories, developing their independence and enjoying special experiences together that we hope they will remember for many years to come.
Another brilliant day and plenty more memories made!
