4M Explore Jewish Traditions Through Sukkot!

This week in RE, 4M enjoyed bringing their learning to life as they explored the Jewish festival of Sukkot through a fantastic hands-on activity!

The children were challenged to design and build their very own sukkahs, temporary shelters traditionally constructed by Jewish families during the festival of Sukkot. Working collaboratively, they used their creativity, problem-solving skills and teamwork to construct their shelters, thinking carefully about their structure and purpose.

Through this practical experience, the children developed a deeper understanding of the significance of Sukkot and how Jewish families celebrate this special festival. They discovered how spending time in a sukkah encourages people to reflect on gratitude, appreciate the things they have and remember the importance of shelter, family and community.

Our learning also encouraged some thoughtful discussions about belonging, togetherness and respect for different beliefs. The children reflected on how shared traditions and celebrations can bring people together and create a strong sense of identity and community.

Although we may not all share the same religious beliefs, 4M recognised that values such as gratitude, kindness, respect and belonging are important to us all.

What a wonderful way to develop our understanding of different faiths while celebrating the things that connect us!
