ECO blog:

We have loved coming back to ECO this term. The polytunnels welcomed us with a wonderful array of vegetables that have been happily growing throughout our lovely, warm summer. The pumpkins have also been a real highlight, bursting into life and filling the beds with an amazing variety of shapes, sizes and colours.

It has been especially wonderful to see our produce make its way into our school dinners, where it has been transformed into delicious roasted vegetables to accompany our meals.

As well as harvesting crops to eat, the children have also been learning how to harvest and save seeds from our plants so that we can grow them again next year. We investigated a variety of different seeds, looking at them closely through magnifying glasses. We noticed that the seeds came in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. For example, the hollyhock seeds were shaped like doughnuts, while the poppy seeds, when shaken, reminded us of maracas!

We will be planting some of these saved seeds in our wildflower bed later on in the term. We are looking forward to seeing what grows and continuing our ECO journey together!
