Year 6 blog:

Coming up in English, Year 6 will be delving into the world of Norman......a regular, primary school boy who has run away from home to live........in a tree house. We have explored why he did this (because his parents have been so cruel to him and have made him tidy his room, twice......in a week!) and, as the outrage continued, we found out that his school were not even pleased with his choices!  The children are using this stimulus to determine the difference between formal and informal writing and using this knowledge to write letters to Norman from different people in his life.

In our new history topic, we will be turning the clocks back and travelling to the time of ancient civilisations and investigating why the Shang, Sumer, Egyptians and Indus Valley all settled along the same line of latitude? So far, we have created a timeline to highlight just quite how far back in time some of these civilisations existed and how long they managed to survive for. In upcoming lessons, we will be looking at how some of these people lived as well as comparing how successful they were as a civilisation.
