Southampton University:

Last term, Year 5 had a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Southampton University, where our students completed a series of Maths and Reading SATs-style papers. This helped researchers determine the difficulty levels of different questions. The university will use this valuable data to create future papers better suited for Year 5 and 6 pupils.

As a reward for their hard work, Year 5 enjoyed a fun-filled Friday afternoon! A group of university students studying astronomy led a creative art activity, exploring the beauty of auroras in the sky. We were fascinated to learn about the science behind the Aurora Borealis. Energetic particles from the Sun, carried by solar wind, interact with Earth’s magnetic field to create colourful light displays. Take a look at the pictures below to see our final outcomes!
