Year 5 blog:
World Book Day is always a highlight for children at BPPS and the Year 5 children had a fantastic time diving into the world of literature this year, with some incredible outfits on show too! 5Q's focus was around Pig-Heart Boy, a gripping tale of a young boy, Cameron, who receives a heart transplant from a pig, which opened up meaningful conversations about science, ethics and what it means to be human. The children connected with Cameron’s journey of self-discovery, bravery and overcoming challenges through a debate about xenotransplantation.
5P's focus was on The Nowhere Emporium, which introduced the children to a magical, mysterious world where a seemingly ordinary shop holds the key to extraordinary adventures. The story's twists and turns kept the children on the edge of their seats as they followed the main character, Daniel, on his journey through a world of hidden secrets and enchanted realms.
5O's attentions were turned to Please Write Soon by Micheal Rosen, a collection of heartfelt letters and poems that resonate with children of all ages. This book offered a glimpse into the world of family, friendships and personal stories, with the children particularly enjoying the humorous and emotional letters. They had a great time reading aloud and even wrote their own letters, inspired by the characters' personal experiences.
