Y5 Plastic Pollution Workshop

Year 5 were incredibly lucky to receive a visit from 'The Final Straw Foundation'. 'The Final Straw' is a registered charity working with local communities and businesses to highlight the impact of plastic pollution on our environment and to try to minimise the amount of plastic entering our local seas and wider oceans. We are incredibly grateful that this is the second year in a row for our year 5 learners to experience this workshop.

Georgina and Kate, our visiting experts, were incredibly engaging and inspired us with their passion towards caring for the planet! Each class took part in a fascinating 45 minute session. The children explored, sieved and sorted objects into microplastics and single use objects that plague our local polluted waters and precious habitats.

This experience was invaluable for our learners in preparation for writing their final paragraph based on expressing David Attenborough's 'awe and wonder' of the ocean.

Well done, Year 5! You contributed brilliantly.
