Year 6 have been making the most of their last term at Primary School. They've enjoyed their last ever weekly arithmetic test and last ever piece of writing (with many choosing to twist fairy tales in intriguing ways). We were all very proud to see them perform "Wow! What a Year!" - the hilariously witty end of year production - with children starring on and off stage as well as singing their hearts out. While some of us have spent the week in sunny Devon challenging ourselves with outdoor activities and tricky team challenges, the rest of us were at school also working in teams to produce a shadow puppet experience for Year R (among other fun activities and challenges). We wish Year 6 all the best for their last week with us.
Y6 Residential to Skern
Wow what a week! The weather has been sensational and so have our Y6 children. We are very proud of Year 6 and looking forward to seeing them later today - the school has been very quiet without them!
The children have taken part in so many activities including, archery, climbing and team building activities at the Skern Lodge centre!
They have worked well as a team together to 'belay' and feed the ropes to each other, whilst providing lots of moral support and encouragement to those climbing.
They have been to Westward Ho! and enjoyed some beach games on the sand. The children found some hermit crabs in the rock pools whilst enjoying some paddling. They have donned wet suits and enjoyed having a go at surfing!
The children have rafted on the River Torridge and worked together as a team to paddle downstream! They have also enjoyed a day of kayaking down the river taking in the sights and wildlife.
In the evenings, the children have roasted marshmallows around the campfire and learned how to use fire flints and strikers. Played wide games on the heath, enjoyed a very hot and sweaty disco and have finished off with a BBQ.
So much fun and memories made by all - we look forward to hearing about all of their adventures first hand on their return this evening.
