Year 5 Blog - Update
In our history lessons, Year 5 have been learning about Queen Elizabeth I and the problems she faced during her reign. We used sources to explore the causes of tension between Queen Elizabeth I and King Phillip II of Spain, which were sparked by the execution of Mary Queen of Scots. These events led to the Spanish Armada's attempted invasion of England which we re-enacted through role play. We then considered which of these reasons we believed were most significant and justified our thoughts using evidence.
Quotes from the children:
Evie: "I enjoyed reenacting the Spanish invasion of England and learning about how powerful they were."
Manna: "I liked how different children were acting as different countries all around the playground with their country's flags."
