Year 2 Victorian Day
Year 2 had a wonderful day, immersing themselves in Victorian life. We met different characters from the Victorian period with each child dressing up and introducing their Victorian character. Building on our Florence Nightingale knowledge we re-enacted what it would be like to be a nurse during the Crimean war. We got to experience a Victorian school, it was very scary and the teachers were very strict. We're glad our school isn't like that. We learnt that ‘in service’ children had to do lots of chores like sweeping, scrubbing, shining shoes, washing clothes and beating rugs. Finally we had lots of fun, learning to sew and making our initials out of embroidery. We all thoroughly enjoyed Victorian day and we are extremely excited to learn lots more when we visit Beaulieu.
