Following our success at Goals in January, the boys took part in the regional final. This was held in the world class facilities of Staplewood, Southampton football club's training ground. As an added bonus, the children saw Sam McQueen, who even said hello to them after watching them play. The boys held their own against a high level of competition and should be very proud of their quarter final finish.
Bitterne Park 0-0 Freegrounds
The boys grew quickly into this game and had several great attacks- the highlight was a sublime ball from Max J which saw Logan hit the post. At the other end William and Leo kept things tight to restrict the opposition to a minimal amount of attacks. A strong start for the boys.
Bitterne Park 1-0 Tanners Brook
During this game, Max C switched to defence which provided reassurance and distribution from the back. A great finish from Logan from outside the box gave us the lead. The boys then showed great teamwork to close out the game.
Bitterne Park 0-3 Weeke
A change in formation gave this game a disjointed start, however the boys adapted quickly to return to their more comfortable routine half way through the game. Harrison showed great work at full back to both press and drop to defend- he was very unlucky not to score after a great shot.
Bitterne Park 1-3 St Bedes
Playing against the tournament favourites, the boys came out from the first whistle with great energy and determination. After getting an early goal (Logan), the boys were unlucky not to double their lead with several great efforts from Harvey. Some outstanding saves from Max R kept the opposition at bay before they equalised and then took the lead. The boys should be proud to have shown such a great effort against a very talented team.
