Boy's Football

Boys football
The boys' football season started this week. Clearly there is a strong level of opposition this year, however the boys remained positive showing a growth mindset in every game- even when the going got tough.

A team
Sholing 2-0 Bitterne Park
St Monica 0-0 Bitterne Park
Townhill 2-2 Bitterne Park

Playing against the toughest sides in the leagues, these result are a promising start. Max and Joe (who scored a brilliant poacher's goal) were pacy on the wings supported excellently by captain Blake- a great start for him in this role communicating with the others. Joe and Finn were sturdy in defence supported by Finn in goal, who was excellent when called upon with some great saves. George showed his tactical nous up front and will surely score several goals in subsequent games league games this season. The standout game was surely against Townhill when the boys recovered from being 2-0 down. Blake stated at the end of the evening that they could have won every game. This is certainly true and the boys talent and resolve will surely lead to results that match performances later in the year.

B team
Bitterne Park 0-4 Bitterne Manor
Sholing 2-0 Bitterne Park
St Monica 4-0

The boys were up against it in all 3 of these games having lost a vital player earlier in the day to injury- Harry, we wish you all the best with your recovery. Despite having to play 6 vs 7, there are some real positives to be drawn. Tom, in his debut as captain, was excellent in defence and led the team well with his great communication. Frankie showed his class in midfield with several linking passes and a couple of promising shots on goal. Max put a sterling performance in goal and produced many world class saves. Preston put in a good shift up front showing perhaps he could be the one to score the goals. Sage and Harrison, also debuting, made great starts in defence and midfield. Although the scorelines might look painful, we are proud of the attitude and determination shown by the boys in these games.
