Years 5&6 Girl’s football:

We were all so excited to play in the football tournament. There were 15 in schools in total and we were proud to represent Bitterne Park Primary. When we arrived, we began to feel a little nervous and we started to wonder how the matches might play out. When you arrive at an event, it can be easy to doubt yourself and your abilities. We decided to focus on passing and shooting as a team, to help take our minds off of our nerves and help us to remember that we are a great team! This helped us to feel confident as quickly we could see that we had some great skills that we would be bringing to the match.

Our first game was our Year 5 team, unfortunately they lost 4-3 but we didn't let the opposing goals dampen our spirits. The Year 6's kept supporting throughout the game, with our words and cheers of encouragement and after the game. We are very proud of their efforts.

Next up, was the Year 6's. We won 1-0! Year 5's and Year 6's both played matches at the same time, this was challenging as we had to keep our mindset strong without each other to support one another. Year 6's won their match and Year 5's were defeated a second time.

We enjoyed a drink break and an opportunity to not be in the next round. This meant that we could watch other children play and enjoy seeing the games. Our combined total of goals across Year 5 & 6 was 12!

After another 3 matches for our Year 6 team, we made it into the semi-finals and then the finals! We are proud of our efforts, not just the goals that we scored but how we worked hard as a team and overcame our nerves throughout the afternoon.
