Year 1

Writing Wonders and Fraction Fun

Veggie heroes

This week we threw out the rule book and had a BLAST getting creative with our writing – who says persuasive writing has to be serious? We added some humour, made up our own silly characters and had fun writing a persuasive competition entry to convince the judges that our vegetable deserves to win! What really made our entries POP were the superhero words we used to add extra PUNCH and excitement to our writing.

The Year 1 team were blown away by the creativity and persuasive skills of our young writers and are excited to showcase some of the amazing entries.

Fractions are a piece of cake!

To kick off our learning, we began by exploring different shapes like circles, squares, and triangles. We talked about how each shape can be divided into equal parts called fractions. We even created our own shapes and cut them into equal pieces to better understand fractions.

We made links in our learning by considering delicious treats we could share with our family and friends that would mean using fractions too like cookies, sandwiches and pizza! Learning about fractions never tasted so good!

Thank you for being such great partners in your child's growth and learning. We look forward to sharing more exciting learning experiences with you in the future!
